Minnie was a great granddaughter of a US Revolutionary Soldier.
Since such soldiers were required to give detailed family documentation
to qualify for pension, that filed information was a goldmine to allow
tracing back many earlier generation.
The following is an ahnentafel chart going back ten generations from
Minnie. Such a chart is a compressed pedigree chart allowing as
much information as possible to be displayed in a compact space.
The number before each name is known as the ahnentafel
number, which can be used to identify ancestors. The individual
(in this case, Minnie) is always number 1. The father in number
2, and mother number 3. The paternal grandparents are 4 and 5,
and maternal grandparents 6 and 7. By doubling each number, you
identify that person's father and double the number plus one is the
