This was probably an exercise in geography dealing with cities rather
than describing an actual trip. This appears to be "text-book
information" on several cities. As an example, she failed to
mention
the Rocky Mountains, something very unlikey if she had actually
travelled through them. In
this, she refers to a recent fire at the Patent Office. There was a
fire there 1877
September 24, which would indicate this composition may have been
written during the 1877-78 school year, when Minnie was 17.
