Joseph Collingwood was a blacksmith/shipsmith with a business at Mavisbank Quay on the Clyde in Glasgow. He was also a magistrate and his contribution to the civic life of the city was acknowledged by having his bust stamped on the side of a lamp standard at the corner of Paisley and Govan Roads.
