Notes for Thomas Collingwood
From the New York Times of 1896-04-21:
“The British bark Firth of Solway, bound for Dunedin, was sunk yesterday morning by collision with the British steamer Marsden of Greenock near Kirsh Lightship, off the east coast of Ireland. The bark went down almost immediately and the captain’s wife and child and thirteen of the crew were drowned. The Captain and eight sailors were saved. The Marsden’s bows were badly stove.”
